The Staff And Children Welcome You And Your Child
THE STAFF AND CHILDREN OF OUR NURSERY WELCOME YOU AND YOUR CHILD

We aim to stimulate the natural curiosity of the children in our care and give them, through play, an opportunity to develop all aspects of their personality.
We want them to be confident and enthusiastic young people who have the desire to learn.

We want them to be sociable, caring, positive individuals who can take their place in the world today. The activities here are broadly based. The children have an opportunity to talk, to listen, to observe, to reason and to evaluate. Back to top
Nursery Activities
NURSERY ACTIVITIES

The children play in sand and water, grow things, bake, model, cut, stick, paint, draw, climb, pedal, scoot, push, pull, construct, knock down and build again.

During imaginative play they can be anything or anybody they wish to be. Never again do they have the opportunity to work on so much, so freely.
The children have regular opportunity to use simple computer programmes and to develop ICT skills. Back to top
We Ask You To Be Partners In The Education Of Your Child
WE ASK YOU TO BE PARTNERS IN THE EDUCATION OF: "Your Child's name"

Listen to what your child tells you of the activities here, read to your child and take your child round and about discussing all you see and do.

You are welcome to come into the Nursery on any day to work with the children. Back to top
Snacks / Leaving Your Child
SNACKS

Your child will be given a carton of full milk and a piece of fruit or vegetable each day. Water is always available for those children who do not drink milk.

LEAVING YOUR CHILD

Perhaps your child does not want to be left in the Nursery or does not want you to go.
Then stay until you and your child feel happy.
Talk to the staff - let your child feel that we are his/her friends and yours. He/she will be pleased to wave you goodbye and will also be pleased to see you at home time. Back to top
P.E. / Assembly / Book Sharing Scheme / Liaison
P.E.

As the children mature they are taken to the Infant hall for P.E., where they have the opportunity to develop their listening skills and are made aware of the use of space and the use of small apparatus. Please note that in the interest of safety, children must not wear jewellery, including all types of earrings for this activity.

ASSEMBLY

The children are invited to special assemblies in the Infant hall.

BOOK SHARING SCHEME

We have a book sharing scheme. Your child will bring home a book to enjoy and share with you each Thursday. We ask you to return the book in its plastic wallet the following Tuesday in order that the book can be checked off and exchanged.

LIAISON

The Infant and Nursery staff work closely together throughout the year to make the transition from the Nursery to the Infant Department as smooth and as happy as possible. Parents have the opportunity to meet the Headteacher and Infant staff. Back to top
Some Other Things To Remember
Some other things to remember.....

· If your child has a medical problem, please let us know.

· Please advise Nursery staff if your child is not toilet trained.

· Let us know of any change of address or telephone number as soon as possible.

· If your child takes a morning nap then an afternoon place should be requested, and vice-versa.

· If you cannot deliver or collect your child, MAKE SURE WE KNOW WHO WILL DO SO. Remember, that person must be over 16 years of age.

· If your child should develop sickness or diarrhoea allow him/her 48 hours at home after the last attack.

. Your child will have the opportunity to spend much of their session in our outdoor learning area. Please make sure that he/she wears suitable footwear and a sturdy rainproof coat each day (including the Summer months).

· Try not to be cross if your child gets wet, covered in glue or paint! Aprons are provided.

· Do dress your child in clothes he/she can easily manage alone.

· Please NAME all coats, footwear and clothing - particularly school sweatshirts - that your child is likely to take off.

· We hope that you will make a 40p contribution each week to our baking tin - this can be found on the Nursery desk. Back to top
